The initial y-axis range is automatically set based on the sensor, because many sensors will not typically exercise the full +/- 5V range of the A/D card. The following defaults are used:

Since the defaults do not cover the full range of the A/D card for all sensors, a signal which is off the screen at the default zoom level is not necessarily clipped. Refer to the clipping indicators in the lower right corner of the application window and the markers placed on the time axis to determine when a signal is clipped.
