Calculations > Smart Threshold

Parameters

Baseline Level

This value is multiplied by the estimated baseline of the signal to produce the threshold level.

Window Length (sec)

The duration of a window over which the RMS baseline is measured.  This value should be smaller than the shortest quiescent period in the data series.

Number of Windows

The number of windows in which to measure RMS to search for the baseline.  A greater number of windows will result in a more accurate representation of the baseline.

Suppress Spikes and Gaps

If selected, short on or off periods are removed from the output.

Suppression Time (sec)

The minimum duration of an active or inactive interval when spikes and gaps are suppressed.

Scale Output

If selected, the output is scaled to be equal to the standard deviation where the input signal exceeds the threshold criterion.

Rectify Input

If selected, the input data is rectified.

Low Pass Filter Input

If selected, the input data is low-pass filtered prior to applying the threshold cutoff, but after rectification (if selected).

Low Pass Filter Cutoff Frequency (Hz)

If the low pass option is selected, this is the cutoff frequency used for the low-pass filter.
